With a great many whisky's coming from the Highlands of Scotland, you must experience a tour and tasting while you are visiting the area.
 

Dalmore Distillery is only 10 minutes drive from the house and is home to their award-winning malts. They offer week day tours and take weekend bookings for larger groups if booked in advance. They have very generously offered Assynt House guests complimentary Legend tours. Please do let us know if you would like to take them up of their offer and we can arrange the tour for you, subect to availability.

THE LEGEND TOUR This guided tour brings the legend to life and leads you step by step through the production process, from maturation in the finest oak casks, to the art of selection. After the tour you will be invited to relax in the Alchemy room while you watch a short video and sample Dalmore's multi-award winning 12 year old single Highland malt.

Tain's Glenmorangie Whisky is made by the Sixteen Men of Tain on the picturesque shores of the Dornoch Firth, they offer tours of the distillery and a taster afterwards. Try some of the different cask finishes. Tomatin Distillery, Tomatin, Founded in 1897, the distillery boasts 12 stills and at one time had the largest capacity of any whisky distillery in the world.

Glen Ord Distillery, Muir of Ord, Watch the distillers at work creating malt whisky. Guided distillery tours, special tasting tours, exhibition, shop with rare malts.

Balblair Distillery, Edderton, Tain, Founded in 1790, Balblair is the second oldest working distillery in the industry.

Clynelish Distillery, Brora, Sutherland, Built in 1819 by the Duke Of Sutherland so that the local crofters would not be selling their grain to illegal whisky makers.
