Dalmore Distillery offers exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences of this prestigious whisky distillery only 15 minutes drive away.
Tain's Glenmorangie Whisky is made by the Sixteen Men of Tain on the picturesque shores of the Dornoch Firth. They offer tours of the distillery and a taster session afterwards. Try some of the different cask finishes. #
The Singleton, Muir of Ord. Watch the distillers at work creating malt whisky. Guided distillery offers guided distillery tours, special tasting tours, an exhibition, and a shop selling rare malts.
Balblair Distillery, Edderton, Tain. Founded in 1790, Balblair is the second oldest working distillery in the industry. Balblair will also come to Assynt House for a personal tasting experience, please contact us to find out more.
Tomatin Distillery, founded in 1897, the distillery boasts 12 stills and at one time had the largest capacity of any whisky distillery in the world
Championship Courses
You will find many of the top golf courses in the north of Scotland are within a forty-mile radius of Assynt House so there's plenty of choice for golfers, in fact you could play a different course all week.
Go north and admire the stunning views of Tain, Brora and Golspie. Play one of the highest regarded courses in the area, Royal Dornoch, with stunning views over the Dornoch Firth.
Head south towards Inverness and choose from Caboc, Fortrose & Rosemarkie, Nairn and Nairn Dunbar. Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Links is the 15th Oldest Recorded Club in the World (1793).

Lovers of fishing will not be disappointed with the picturesque beats of the River Alness or the Conon.
River or Loch, you will find excellent trout and salmon fishing available locally. Guided fishing trips and hire of equipment can all be arranged in the area.

Aspen Spa is a beautiful mini-spa located about 30 minutes drive from Assynt House just outside the town of Tain. They have experienced therapists offering excellent treatments. Aspen Spa is also available to guests at Assynt House in the comfort of their own room for an extra cost.
The surroundings of Assynt House make it easy to relax and look after your wellbeing. You could choose to enhance your stay with a visit from a local spa therapist, reiki master, qualified yoga and pilates instructors or a personal trainer.
